   About the Author

H.G. Wells was born on September 21, 1866 in Kent England. He grew up with a background of a working class. When he was 7, H.G. Wells had been caught in an accident, leaving him bedridden for a long while, which is when he started reading many great works from authors like Charles Dickens and Washington Irving. Once his fathers work crashed, his mother went to work on an estate. There, Wells discovered works by Jonathan Swift and Voltaire, some important figures of the Enlightenment. Thus, Wells writing career had started. Wells started teaching and then later won a scholarship to the Normal School of Science. Wells devoted most of his time to writing, and came out with an overnight success, The Time Machine (1895). Wells continued on to write many more science-fiction novels, shown in the bibliography tab at the top of the page. Wells married his cousin, Isabel Mary Wells, but soon divorced her. He then remarried Amy Catherine "Jane" Robbins, and had two children. Wells had many affairs during that marriage, and soon H.G. Wells developed feelings for another writer, Rebecca West, and they had a son together.

Wells wrote about 3 books  year. Wells died August 13, 1946 of natural causes. Wells became known as the "Father of Futurism," or "Father of Science-Fiction," and is remembered as a phenomenal author of his time.
